Kevin Allocca and I both like The Rolling Stones better than we like The Beatles, but I like Elvis more than the Stones and The Beach Boys probably more than all of them.

When I was looking through my music to create this post, I remembered that last Christmas I was making fun of these family friends who always come to my aunts house for Christmas Eve and sing old Irish carols in the middle of the party. I suggested to my mom our family sing an acapella version of "The Man With All The Toys" after her family does their operatic version of literally every obscure Irish blessing set to music...ever. Because my mother takes as much joy in harassing our family as I do, she actually made my step dad and siblings practice singing the song the entire 40 minute drive from Lexington to Norwood. When the "Von Traps" (as we refer to them) finished their bit, my mom announced to the party that we too had arranged a musical number. Then the six of us stood there and awkwardly mumbled the first verse of the song while my step dad attempted to hold down the bass section. It was kind of priceless.
