i laughed on friday.
So let me tell ya about something...
I've been watching this Showbizzle web series I told you all about and on Friday I came across these two cats.
This show is all about young people involved in various aspects of Hollywood, from assistants to writers to porn stars and actors. It's definitely filed under "guilty pleasure" and you're not totally sure why you're watching it, but there's something there. With these two characters especially, David and Zak, there is definitely something there.
Basically, these two characters are representative of everything I hate about "comedy" and "doing comedy" and "people who think they are funny enough to get paid for it". It's people like these characters who make trying to make a living at this stuff who make it seem questionable to other people, and I truly believe that. Whenever comedy has gotten awkward in my life, it's because some corn-fed white boy who never had anyone tell him to shut up and that he wasn't funny showed up and tried to involve himself. It's because everyone went to high school with at least one dude like this who was far less funny than he was mouthy and perhaps the kind of colorful that carries an expiration date of his twelfth birthday (but no one remembered to tell him that!) that people raise an eyebrow at you when you tell them that, in essence, you're paid to do comedy. Because they know that there's a chance you're like these dudes. These dudes ruin the party and I'm glad they are being called out in this medium.
